Spreading Ocean Love The brainchild of marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols, the Blue Marbles Project promotes “random acts of ocean kindness” through a simple gesture: passing a blue marble to anyone who is ocean-minded, and helping the ocean in some small way.
The blue marble is a symbol of our watery planet as seen from space, a drop of water containing virtually every element and a token of heartfelt gratitude. Nichols’ ambitious goal is to pass one blue marble through every human being’s hand on earth. “Live like you love the ocean” is his one request for those who play the “blue game,” and the sea turtle conservationist keeps his website updated with ocean-minded news, resources, and of course, blue marbles.
