Welcome Back Monarchs Day

Date:

Sun, 10/09/2016 - 11:00

Four monarch generations ago a flight of the butterflies left Santa Cruz. That was last spring. The return of their progeny calls for a celebration! Preferably one involving butterfly costumes, live music, arts, crafts, games and "monarch" ice cream (which tastes suspiciously similar to pumpkin). Don't worry, no monarchs will be harmed in the production of the costumes or delicious treats. You can even learn how to create a butterfly garden, and perhaps a welcome back party, of your very own. Hear music by the 5Ms (the mostly mediocre musical monarch mariposas) and join in the Migration Parade led by Monarch Man and Monarch Woman.

Natural Bridges State Beach, 2531 West Cliff Dr., Santa Cruz. 11am-4pm. Free, but parking costs $10.
